Apparently, Little Paulie Ryan refuses to explain the numbers behind his budget and tax plans even to the Fox Republican Propaganda Network. The incredible story is here. An exchange with Chris Wallace was, uh, revealing let's say:
WALLACE: So how much would it cost?
RYAN: It’s revenue neutral…
WALLACE: No no, I’m just talking about cuts. We’ll get to the deductions, but the cut in tax rates.
RYAN: The cut in tax rates is lowering all Americans’ tax rates by 20 percent.
WALLACE: Right, how much does that cost?
RYAN: It’s revenue neutral.
[...]
WALLACE: But I have to point out, you haven’t given me the math.
RYAN: No, but you…well, I don’t have the time. It would take me too long to go through all of the math. But let me say it this way: you can lower tax rates by 20 percent across the board by closing loopholes and still have preferences for the middle class. For things like charitable deductions, for home purchases, for health care. So what we’re saying is, people are going to get lower tax rates.
What a CROCK. Little Paulie is saying that "You people wouldn't understand my numbers, so I'm not giving them to you!" In other words, he's saying "trust me". WELL WE DON'T TRUST YOU, LITTLE PAULIE. WE THINK YOU AND WILLARD ARE LYING THROUGH YOUR TEETH ABOUT ALL OF THIS.
Paul Krugman knew what was going on a long time ago. Here's his take on it:
Let's talk about what's actually in the Ryan plan, and let's distinguish in particular between actual, specific policy proposals and unsupported assertions. To focus things more, let's talk -- as most budget discussions do -- about what's supposed to happen over the next 10 years.
On the tax side, Ryan proposes big cuts in tax rates on top income brackets and corporations. He has tried to dodge the normal process in which tax proposals are "scored" by independent auditors, but the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center has done the math, and the revenue loss from these cuts comes to $4.3 trillion over the next decade.
On the spending side, Ryan proposes huge cuts in Medicaid, turning it over to the states while sharply reducing funding relative to projections under current policy. That saves around $800 billion. He proposes similar harsh cuts in food stamps, saving a further $130 billion or so, plus a grab bag of other cuts, such as reduced aid to college students. Let's be generous and say that all these cuts would save $1 trillion.
On top of this, Ryan includes the $716 billion in Medicare savings that are part of Obamacare, even though he wants to scrap everything else in that act. Despite this, Ryan has now joined Romney in denouncing President Barack Obama for "cutting Medicare."
So if we add up Ryan's specific proposals, we have $4.3 trillion in tax cuts, partially offset by around $1.7 trillion in spending cuts -- with the tax cuts, surprise, disproportionately benefiting the top 1 percent, while the spending cuts would primarily come at the expense of low-income families. Overall, the effect would be to increase the deficit by around two and a half trillion dollars.
Yet Ryan claims to be a deficit hawk. What's the basis for that claim?
Ryan would strip money from the sick, the elderly, and the poor. And what is the objective of this cruel, draconian plan? To reduce the deficit? NO!! It is to shovel more money into the pockets of Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney! Shocking. Atrocious. Perhaps the most naked effort in our nation's history to loot from the poorest among us.
Are you registered to vote? Double check to see that some Republican hasn't disqualified you somehow.
Have you contributed money to the Democrats?
Are you going to get one or two of your friends who aren't inclined to vote to get registered, and vote Democratic?
It's NEVER been more important for the good people to win.
And for Romney the Liar and Lyin' Ryan, the Chief Looters and Moochers of the United States, to go down to crushing defeat.

ROMNEY THE LIAR MAKES LAUGHABLE ASSERTION TO CNN
This guy Willard is just beyond belief. In this story here, Willard makes the following astonishing claim about his lie-packed, utterly false advertising:
"We've been absolutely spot on. And any time there's anything that's been amiss, we correct it or remove it," Romney said.
Romney officials did not immediately respond to CNN's request to name one ad the campaign had taken down.
The GOP contender defended one controversial ad, which accuses the president of taking the work requirements out of welfare. Several fact-checking organizations, including CNN, have deemed the spot "false."
In other words, Willard doubled down on his welfare lie when confronted with it. He also refused to talk about the video in which he spewed out his contempt for almost half the American people. He did, however, utter the following spectacular lie:
...Romney presented himself as someone who is looking out for working Americans, saying he is "overwhelmingly committed to helping every American."
You know...the people who "refuse" to take responsibility for their lives and "expect" everything to be provided for them.
No wonder this clown is tanking.

ROMNEY THE LIAR TRIES TO BLAME OBAMA FOR MILITARY SUICIDES
Loathsome. Despicable. Willard is trying to say that the reductions in defense spending proposed by President Obama (actually reductions in growth) are responsible for the high number of service-member suicides. The whole story is here. Excerpt:
"We have huge numbers of our men and women that are returning from conflict, that are seeking counseling, psychological counseling, and can't find that counseling within our system. And, of course, record numbers of suicides. This is a crisis!" Romney said at the American Legion post.
Military suicides do constitute a crisis. President Obama has not been remiss in recognizing this, both in his appointment of Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki and his taking a personal interest in the subject. And then there is the budget. Under Obama, spending for dealing with PTSD and traumatic brain injury as well as mental health services has been increased significantly.
Paul Ryan, on the other hand, has actively sought cuts in veterans' health benefits. The proposed Romney-Ryan budget could cut nearly a fifth of the VA's budget, $11 billion axed. That's not the worst of it. Romney favors privatizing a portion of VA health coverage, replacing it with a voucher system, something even the very conservative Veterans of Foreign Wars oppose. [My emphasis.]
He will say ANYTHING. He has NO moral restraint whatsoever. Before I wanted to defeat Willard.
Now I want to politically destroy him.

ROMNEY THE LIAR ***AGAIN*** DESTROYED BY HIS OWN WORDS
This is just AWESOME:
ROMNEY THE LIAR: INCAPABLE OF ADMITTING ERROR OR TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
One of the things I find so loathsome about Willard is his complete avoidance of any personal accountability for his words or actions. Apparently I'm not the only one, as we can see here:
...Mitt Romney still refuses to take responsibility even for his own tax returns. Former colleagues of Romney’s report that Romney would have never even run for president if he thought he’d be pressed to release his tax returns. And then we see that, of the meager tax returns Romney does release, 2011 is altered to take a lower charitable deduction so that the governor’s effective tax rate is a still relatively low 13 percent instead of an embarrassingly low 9 percent. While President Obama appeals to voters as a straightforward and self-critical human being, Mitt Romney comes across as a cold and opaque elitist. Romney doesn’t think “the people” deserve to see his tax returns, let alone an accurate accounting of his tax rate and foreign investments.
And then consider Romney’s two most prominent missteps as of late — a very inaccurate and dangerous statement about surging violence in the Middle East and his secretly recorded statements writing off 47 percent of Americans as dependent “victims.” Pretty much any other politician imaginable would walk these remarks back. Heck, even Todd Akin apologized after his abominable statements on “legitimate rape.” But Romney? No, he actually doubled down in both instances — defending his reckless remarks and turning what could have been mere gaffes into central pillars of his campaign.
That's Willard all the way. Never explain, never backtrack, never admit fault. There are plenty of people like this. They think it makes them appear strong, tough, and invincible.
Actually, it makes them look craven, dishonest, and weak.
Kind of a good summary of Willard's character--or lack thereof.

ROMNEY THE LIAR DECLARES HIMSELF TO BE UNQUALIFIED FOR THE PRESIDENCY
In July, Willard made the following statement:
I don't pay more [taxes] than are legally due and frankly if I had paid more than are legally due I don't think I'd be qualified to become president. I'd think people would want me to follow the law and pay only what the tax code requires.
Now we see that in his current tax return his liability was only 9%--NINE PER CENT!--but he didn't take all of his deductions for his charitable contributions, so his actual rate was 14%. (That's still below what a lot of people get for WORKING. Willard does NOTHING except collect money from Bain Capital that counts as carried interest and therefore is taxed at the low capital gains rate.)
SO IF WILLARD PAID MORE THAN HE ACTUALLY OWED, DOESN'T THAT MEAN--BY HIS OWN WORDS--THAT HE'S NOT QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT?
Or what he just lying--as usual--in July?

ROMNEY THE LIAR's MOST ABSURD LIE YET
I had to look at this one twice.
It's from Willard's interview with 60 Minutes, to be aired Sunday.
"...I want to make it very clear, I want to help 100 percent of the American people."
Astonishing. Simply Astonishing. The hypocrisy, the dishonesty of such a statement, is simply breathtaking.
So here are some of the 47% of the American people Willard says he can't worry about, accompanied by what would be Willard's assessment of them:
Refuses to take responsibility for his life. [Vietnam vet.]
Expects everything to be provided to him. [Appalachian man at an employment office]
Sees himself as a victim. [Marine in Afghanistan]
Should get a job and start contributing. [85 year-old disabled woman]
Just want to be dependent on the government. [Middle class family where parents both work but are hard-pressed]
Oh, and by the way, here are the states that have the highest percentage of non-payers (in red) and the states that have the lowest percentage of non-payers (in blue):
Mitt Romney said that those who do not pay federal income taxes are basically bums and freeloaders. Never mind that almost all adults pay some form of taxes. Never mind that even the poorest fifth of Americans pays about 17% of its income in various taxes. Never mind that almost half of those who have no income tax liability are elderly people WHO PAID INTO SOCIAL SECURITY ALL THEIR LIVES.
According to Willard, they want everything handed to them, all of them.
Nothing could be more obvious than the fact that Willard basically despises almost half the American people. And now he wants us to believe that he cares about everyone?
How stupid does he think we are?

ROMNEY THE LIAR IN DAMAGE CONTROL MODE, STILL LYING
Willard, having been exposed as someone who utterly disrespects almost half the country, is trying to recover from the damage his unbelievably callous, ugly, and wrong-headed remarks have done to his campaign. Daniel Larison isn't buying the notion that he'll be able to:
For the sake of argument, let’s assume that the millions of Republican voters Romney insulted with those remarks don’t believe he was talking about them. That doesn’t mean that there won’t be quite a few otherwise Republican-leaning voters who will recoil from Romney’s contempt for almost half of the population. Even if they don’t realize how many of his own supporters Romney insulted, Republican-leaning voters that were already suspicious of Romney because of his background and wealth now have another reason to distrust and dislike him. It’s not as if Romney inspires trust or goodwill to start with. Here we have yet another episode in which Romney has said something that demonstrates either his near-total separation from the way most Americans live, his willingness to say anything if it is politically expedient, or both.
Yes, Willard will indeed say anything to win. When you're devoid of ordinary human sympathy, I guess it's easy to be that way. But the millions of decent Americans that Willard basically called parasites and looters have every reason to turn away from such a repulsive human being.

ROMNEY THE LIAR CLAIMS THAT OBAMA VOTERS ARE ALL DEPENDENT ON THE GOVERNMENT!!
OK, Willard, it's time to get a few things straight.
1. The ONLY age group in which John McCain got a majority of the vote in 2008 was the over 65 category--the people who are overwhelmingly on Social Security and Medicare.
2. If a person pays into Social Security and Medicare for FORTY FREAKING YEARS it is NOT an "entitlement". It is an EARNED BENEFIT.
3. Willard is spreading the right-wing lie that only people who are NOT getting government assistance of some sort are open to voting Republican. Hmm. Since millions of WORKING AMERICANS vote Democratic, I guess that might not be the case.
4. Willard conveniently forgets to note that over 90% of adult Americans pay taxes in some form--FICA, state and/or local income taxes, sales taxes, etc. This right-wing garbage that "47% of Americans are dependents" is simply a LIE. Even people in the bottom fifth of income pay an average of 17% of that income in taxes of various kinds.
5. Finally, HALF of the people who pay no income tax are elderly. Go ahead, Willard. Tell the most Republican constituency in America that they're a bunch of looters and moochers.
WILLARD, YOU'RE THROUGH.
ROMNEY THE LIAR ENGAGED IN CLASSIC PSYCHOLOGICAL PROJECTION
The most dishonest presidential candidate in modern history, Willard, said recently that he fears President Obama will say "untrue" things in the debates. (!)
This from a man who has REPEATEDLY said--
That President Obama went around the world on an "apology tour"--AN EVENT WHICH NEVER OCCURRED
That Obama is waging a "war against religion"--A "WAR" THAT DOES NOT EXIST
That Obama is responsible for all job losses since 20 January 2009--PREPOSTEROUS NONSENSE (AS IF OBAMA COULD AUTOMATICALLY REVERSE THE 800,000 JOBS A MONTH BEING LOST)
That Willard "saved the auto industry" when in fact PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HIS TEAM DID THAT
That Obama is "stealing" from Medicare when Willard's running mate, Lyin' Ryan, has proposed THE EXACT SAME MEDICARE SAVINGS
And on
and on
and on.
As I said, a classic case of projection. For Willard to accuse Obama of lying is just another of his astonishing falsehoods.
And he's not getting away with them. You and I will see to that.

WANT TO STOP ROMNEY THE LIAR? THEN YOU NEED TO BE A ***VOTER***
Folks, we're only a little more than seven weeks from the election. Early voting in many states will begin soon. Willard is trailing, but he's still got a shot. A startling poll number revealed that if all of the people who prefer President Obama came out to vote, the President would win by 10! But that's not happening because there is too much apathy. WE CAN'T AFFORD TO NOT CARE ABOUT THIS ELECTION. We cannot. There's too much at stake. Look back at what I've been documenting since January. Willard is a dangerous, amoral sociopath. There is only group of people who stand in his way:
YOU AND EVERYONE LIKE YOU.
There can be no uncertainty this time.
YOU NEED TO BE A VOTER.
YOU AND EVERYONE LIKE YOU.
There can be no uncertainty this time.
YOU NEED TO BE A VOTER.

ROMNEY THE LIAR'S CHRONIC DISHONESTY ON FOREIGN POLICY
Daniel Larison is a sane and sensible conservative voice. He is thoroughly disgusted with the lying, amateurish, belligerent foreign policy pronouncements that have been made by Willard and his hyper-aggressive team of Neo-Con chickenhawks, and he sums up the issue nicely here:
The broader criticism of Obama regarding treatment of allies and adversaries is unfounded, and so are the specific attacks that Romney and his allies have been making for years. I have made a point of challenging these attacks for the last few years mainly because they are inaccurate and/or dishonest, but it’s also clear that the even more hawkish alternatives favored by these critics would be that much worse for the U.S. Even if the criticism happened to be correct in this instance, [the embassy attacks] which it wasn’t, hawkish critics have made so many similar, baseless attacks over the years that it would have been easy to dismiss this as just more of the same. As it happened, the criticism this week wasn’t just inaccurate, but also thoroughly dishonest. In addition to all of that, there was the display of spectacularly poor judgment in immediately attacking on Tuesday night. Romney had made false claims before (“abandoning” missile defense, “betraying” allies, etc.), but he had not attempted to make political hay out of an ongoing crisis before now. When he did, his habit of saying untrue and unfounded things about Obama’s foreign policy record came back to bite him. Considering how long he has been able to make misleading and dishonest accusations on these issues before now, it is about time.
Yes, indeed it is. Romney would be a DANGER TO THE WORLD were he (God forbid!) to become president. He and the chronically dishonest foreign policy hacks he employs would plunge us right back into Bush's disastrous bull-in-a-china-shop regime. And does anyone doubt that Willard wants a WAR WITH IRAN, a war with potentially tragic consequences?
We HAVE to vote against this reckless, lying amateur. Our world's future could be at stake here.

ROMNEY THE LIAR EXPLOITING NATIONAL TRAGEDY
Lying, incompetent, classless--Willard's got it all, doesn't he? Instead of being dignified in the face of the tragic events in the Middle East, he chose to lie about them. After all, it fits in with his LIE that President Obama went around the world "apologizing" for America. Ruth Marcus is appropriately disgusted here:
As irresponsible as Romney’s behavior Tuesday night, even worse was his move to double down at a Wednesday morning news conference, following word of the deaths of the U.S. ambassador and three other American diplomats in Libya. Tuesday night, before the killings were known, was amateurish. Wednesday morning was unconscionable.
“It’s never too early for the United States government to condemn attacks on Americans and to defend our values,” Romney said, apparently believing that the embassy should have been able to foretell the attack before it occurred. In the space of three sentences, he criticized the administration for standing by the embassy statement and accused it of sending “mixed signals” by disavowing it.
The question and answer session was even worse. “Simply put, having an embassy which . . . has been breached and has protesters on its grounds, having violated the sovereignty of the United States, having that embassy reiterate a statement effectively apologizing for the right of free speech is not the right course for an administration,” Romney said.
Leaving aside his flawed timeline — later tweets from the embassy combined criticism of anti-Muslim bigotry with condemnation of the attacks — Romney’s interpretation of what constitutes an apology is once again far off-base.
“We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others,” the original embassy statement said. This formulation reflects a sensitive balancing of competing interests, not an apology for free speech. You can deplore the idiocy of the movie but defend to the death the producer’s right to make it.
To Romney, this amounts to “a disgraceful statement on the part of our administration to apologize for American values.”
There is something disgraceful happening here, but it doesn’t involve a comment by an obscure embassy spokesman. It is Romney’s cynical, dishonest effort to take advantage of this national tragedy for his own political ends.
We HAVE to keep this smirking, lying, disgusting man out of the White House.
And we're going to.

ROMNEY THE LIAR UTTERS ***VICIOUS, STUPID, CLUMSY*** LIE ABOUT ATTACKS IN EGYPT AND LIBYA
You know, I thought Willard had sunk as low as it was possible to sink. But in his craven, sickeningly dishonest statement about the terrible embassy attacks in Egypt and Libya, he has managed to dig himself into a moral abyss deeper than I had thought possible. Romney FALSELY claimed that the Obama Administration had "apologized" for the embassy attacks, when NO SUCH APOLOGY WAS MADE. Both President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton STRONGLY CONDEMNED the attacks. But the vile Republican candidate for President said that Obama had "sympathized with" those making the attacks!! Here's what the President ACTUALLY said:
I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives.
I have directed my Administration to provide all necessary resources to support the security of our personnel in Libya, and to increase security at our diplomatic posts around the globe. While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants.
On a personal note, Chris was a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States. Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi. As Ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya's transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my Administration, and deeply saddened by this loss
The brave Americans we lost represent the extraordinary service and sacrifices that our civilians make every day around the globe. As we stand united with their families, let us now redouble our own efforts to carry their work forward.
Does that sound like sympathy, Willard, you CLOWN?
And Romney has doubled down in his lie today! HE IS UNFIT TO BE THE LEADER OF A FREE NATION. HE IS UTTERLY UNQUALIFIED FOR OFFICE.
Andrew Sullivan has a convenient summary of the whole episode here.
UPDATE:
Look at the smirk on Willard's face, as if he's just gotten away with telling yet another lie. Like hell, Willard. Like hell. You're through. Count on it.

ROMNEY THE LIAR'S RUNNING MATE: "THE LYIN' KING"
Hah! This is awesome. It's a list of all Little Paulie Ryan's lies on the campaign trail. If Willard was looking for a VP nominee as sociopathic, mendacious, and two-faced as himself, he found him. Examples:
[Ryan lie]: “I voted for the Budget Control Act. But the Obama Administration proposed $478 billion in defense cuts. We don’t agree with that, our budget rejected that, and then on top of that is another $500 billion in defense cuts in the sequester.” Truth: Ryan has been doing back flips to explain why he has been criticizing the Democrats for the $600 billion “sequestration” cuts that will automatically go into effect if there’s no budget compromise by December. Ryan, in fact, voted for those cuts. The sequestration cuts, along with $487 billion in other defense cuts, were both a part of the Budget Control Act. (September 9, 2012)
[Ryan lie]: “And by the way, under President Clinton, we got welfare reform … which moved people from welfare to work, to get people out of poverty. President Obama is rolling back welfare reform.” Truth: President Obama granted several Republican governors new flexibility for how to implement welfare standards, but did not eliminate the current existing requirements. The claim about the work requirement was universally debunked by fact checkers, and by Bill Clinton. (September 5, 2012)
[Ryan lie]: “Seven hundred and sixteen billion dollars, funneled out of Medicare by President Obama. An obligation we have to our parents and grandparents is being sacrificed, all to pay for a new entitlement we didn’t even ask for. The greatest threat to Medicare is Obamacare, and we’re going to stop it.” Truth: The savings in Medicare come from cuts to reimbursements to hospitals and insurance companies, not from seniors, and go to paying for the healthcare law. By repealing the ACA and restoring those reimbursements, Romney and Ryan would in fact hasten Medicare’s demise. (August 29, 2012)
Read the whole thing, as we say. And then:
1. Make sure you are registered to vote.
2. Make a contribution to Act Blue or to the Obama campaign directly.
3. Make these items go viral.
The country you save may be your own.

ROMNEY THE LIAR'S RUNNING MATE, LYIN' RYAN, GETS CAUGHT LYING ABOUT DEFENSE SPENDING
Willard's apt pupil, Little Paulie, got caught in one of his MANY lies today, this one involving defense spending. The story is here. Key graphs:
Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan has gotten in hot water before for criticizing President Obama for the very same defense cuts that he voted for in 2011. When confronted with this incongruity today on Face The Nation, Ryan simply denied that he ever voted for the cuts, telling an incredulous Norah O’Donnell that he didn’t actually vote for the cuts he’s on record as voting for.
[O'Donnell pinned Ryan down on his vote and Ryan insisted that she was mistaken.]
O’Donnell is, in fact, not mistaken. The Budget Control Act, as passed, included both the roughly $600 billion in “sequestration” cuts that will happen if there’s no compromise on the budget by December as well as the $487 billion of military-supported cuts that will take place regardless. The fact that Ryan may have wished that the bill didn’t contain said defense cuts does not absolve him of the fact that he and 201 other Republicans voted for the bill as-passed.
Moreover, Ryan’s statement after voting for the bill contained not a single word of criticism about the defense cuts. As O’Donnell correctly noted, Ryan said the bill “represents a victory for those committed to controlling government spending and growing our economy” and that “The agreement – while far from perfect – underscores the extent to which the new House majority has successfully changed Washington’s culture of spending.” It’s at best misleading, and at worst an outright lie, for Ryan to assert that voting for the Budget Control Act did not mean voting for defense cuts.
As Bill Clinton said about Ryan's lying attack on President Obama's Medicare policies at the Republican Convention, it takes brass to attack a guy for something you did.
It sure does. and Lyin' Ryan is about the brassiest liar out there.
Except for one, of course. Willard remains the king.

ROMNEY THE LIAR IMPLIES PRESIDENT OBAMA WILL REMOVE THE WORD "GOD" FROM U.S. COINAGE
You know the REAL sociopaths like Willard are clever about how they say things, especially when they're making accusations. Check this out right here:
After leading a reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance in the middle of his remarks, Romney began talking about God. "That pledge says 'under God.' I will not take God out of our platform. I will not take God off our coins. And I will not take God out of my heart," Romney said to roaring applause from the audience. Romney also pledged to “rebuild America’s military might” to an audience that was heavy on military families, reports CNN. (My emphasis)
First of all, Willard, NO ONE IS SUGGESTING TAKING GOD OFF THE COINAGE. No one. Willard's little remark is intended to help portray Obama as a godless heathen. Oh, and notice the despicable lie that our nation's military might needs to be "rebuilt"--as if the United States weren't the greatest military power on Earth already.
Like I said, the real sociopaths do it this way. Willard is the ultimate textbook example. Now that he's losing, expect him to get even more desperate and to tell even MORE lies.
I didn't think it was possible.

ROMNEY THE LIAR ***STILL*** LYING ABOUT THE AUTO BAILOUT!
Man, Willard is the most PERSISTENT liar I have EVER seen. He is AGAIN taking credit for the rescue of the auto industry. Fact: the rescue was initiated in the last days of the Bush Administration, but it was PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA and his team that managed the bailout. Got that, Willard, author of the article "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt"? The story is here:
Ultimately, both Chrysler (April 2009) and General Motors (June 2009) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, as Romney had suggested they should. But that was only after the government had infused them with about 39 billion dollars. The two bailouts prevented Chrysler and General Motors from being liquidated at bankruptcy. And that is the key issue for us when we look back at what happened at the time and judge Romney's recommendations.
Without getting into the intricacies of bankruptcy law, the problem in November 2008 was that the financial sector of the economy had collapsed and there was no one to step in and make private sector investments in the auto industry. To pay their creditors, Chrysler and GM would have had to shut down their companies entirely and started selling off their assets as scrap. Estimates at the time were that this would cause the loss of at least three million jobs. It would have destroyed the auto parts industry and taken Ford down in the process.
If you read Mitt Romney's column, you'll see that he didn't anticipate this problem. He talks about restructuring labor contracts and firing the management, but he doesn't seem to realize that the businesses were not going to survive the bankruptcy process at all. Without the government money, there would be no businesses to manage and no need for unions because there would be no jobs.
People remember the headline, and they know that the industry was saved from extinction, and so they think Romney advocated letting the industry go extinct. He didn't advocate that. But he did advocate something that would have had that result. [My emphasis]
Remember, folks, Willard's first instincts are to see a business stripped of its assets, its unions broken, and its workers shafted. What he recommended for the auto industry would have FAILED.
Period.

ROMNEY THE LIAR'S RUNNING MATE, LYIN' RYAN, HAS ***ALWAYS*** BEEN A LIAR
Man! Jonathan Chait brings down the HAMMER on two-faced, lying, walking human fraud Paul Ryan, right here. Excerpts:
...Ryan’s Tampa speech, while pretty dishonest, was not especially so by Ryan’s standards. Here you can see why Ryan must view the sudden attack of the truth squad so bewilderingly. Ryan has been saying things like this, and worse, all along. The bit where he sadly shakes his head and blames President Obama for the failure of the Bowles-Simpson deficit commission that Ryan killed himself has been a staple of the Ryan shtick for two years. Reporters usually bat their eyes and coo sympathetically. Now it has become evidence of his duplicity.
********
The thing about Ryan is that he has always resided in a counter-factual universe. He is a product of the hermetically sealed right-wing subculture. Many of the facts taken for granted by mainstream economists have never penetrated his brain. Ryan burst onto the national scene with a dense, fact-laden attack on the financing of Obama’s health-care bill that was essentially a series of hallucinations, pseudo-facts cooked up and recirculated by conservative apparatchiks who didn't know what they were talking about or didn’t care. His big-think speeches reflect the influence of fact-free conservatives and collapse under scrutiny. [Check the links in Chait's post.]
Yowza! Paul Ryan his built his ENTIRE CAREER on lies, folks. He's been doing this all along. People are just beginning to see that. It's why he's the perfect match for Willard the Sociopath.
And that's why, armed with the truth, we're gonna strip the bark off these two.

ROMNEY THE LIAR, AKA "MULTIPLE CHOICE MITT"
Being man-handled by Ted Kennedy

A ***MUST READ*** FOR ALL OPPONENTS OF ROMNEY THE LIAR AND LYIN' RYAN
This article here is the best take-down of that diseased entity called the Republican Party (from which I escaped 20 years ago) I have ever seen. It deserves maximum circulation. I found this part of it to be particularly apt:
Today, for Republicans, up is down and front is back. Lying has become so ingrained into the conservatives’ national dialogue that they are now dangerously demagogic or, worse, severely unhinged. Blind rage at the election of Barack Obama has wrecked a once great political party. Its leaders have made so many deals with the devil in their almost pathological obsession with unseating Obama that they have pushed the GOP into its own version of political hell – unable to speak truths to their now-rabid and conspiracy-addled base and unable to right the party back onto a path of responsibility.
Only through the disinfectant of defeat can the Republicans, and the two party system, be preserved. And so, the campaign of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan must be consigned to the ash heap of history. Defeat must not only be decisive, it must be crippling. Here are five reasons why:
I. They are liars. Most of the major newspapers and networks have adopted Marquess of Queensbury rules when addressing the utterance of utter falsehoods by Romney, Ryan and their surrogates. A velvet glove doesn’t deter deliberate deceit, and it certainly hasn’t here. Calling the words of Romney and Ryan “at odds with the truth” and “not factually accurate” is the coward’s way of communicating that the entire GOP campaign is based on lies, innuendo and more lies. There is a dramatic difference between the usual nip-and-tucking of the presidential campaign season and the flood of prevarication pouring out of the mouths of Romney and Ryan.
As they say in blog-land: read the whole thing. And then:
1. Contribute money to Obama-Biden
2. Make sure you and your like-minded friends are registered to vote
3. Circulate this and things like it as widely as possible.
Together, we will save our country.
